22-05-2016·On my last Mako inboard a couple of the screws that held the Hardtop Tubing to the floor ripped out in some rough water. I cleaned the holes out good and put 5200 into them letting it dry till the next afternoon. I then re-drilled the holes and put the screws back in. The 5200 was still holding strong when I sold the boat 1 1/2 years later.

We had a boat for years that just had bigger screws for the bridle eyestraps, the deck was thick enough to hold the screws plus we put in a squirt of 3M 4200. The anchor remedy is extreme, it leaves a big hole.

As a consequence, every time I step on that corner it squeaks and bugs me. I was thinking of removing the panel, filling that screw hole with fiberglass resin, re-drilling the hole, and putting the screw back in.

Did this when i was doing other repairs with the same tube. Then i just wiped off the excess with my finger and had it flush with the top. Looks good and you got to really look for the holes close to see them.

Then use gelcoat to match. 5200 is a sealant. Peittit makes a product called flex poxy, it comes in a tube much like 5200. You squeeze some out and mix it and can fill the holes with that.

There's probably equally strong epoxies, but I've used it quite a bit and am very pleased with it. I would guess that if you filled the old holes with this and re-drilled, it would be strong or stronger than original.
